About This Dataset

NHANES is the primary population reference dataset for LabNorms. The CDC combined data collected in 2017-2018 and 2019 through March 2020 into one nationally representative pre-pandemic release. LabNorms uses the combined P_* files and their supplied pre-pandemic sample weights directly. Full-MEC analytes use WTMECPRP, while fasting and other subsamples use the matching special pre-pandemic weight. The standalone 2017-2018 files are not added to the combined release.

Limitations

• US population only (distributions may differ in other countries)
• Cross-sectional design cannot establish causal relationships
• Self-reported dietary and supplement data may be subject to recall bias
